During my time at iDreamSky, I served as a Live Service Designer, working on popular mobile games such as Subway Surfers and many others for the Chinese market. In my role, I was responsible for tailoring game elements to resonate with our target audience, drawing on market trends and cultural understanding to create engaging experiences that captivated players. This entailed frequent adjustments to gameplay mechanics, monetization strategies, and event planning, ensuring our titles were not only fun but also drove continued player engagement and retention. With a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of the Chinese gaming market, I was successful in localizing global gaming brands while ensuring a unique and rewarding gaming experience for our users.
I not only interacted with an in-house team, but also established and strengthened relationships with various external game developers. This role involved strategic thinking, diplomacy, and a deep understanding of global gaming trends. My goal was to foster trust and ensure developers felt confident in our ability to bring their successful games to the flourishing Chinese market while respecting their creative vision. Bridging cultural or communication gaps, strategizing localization plans, and maintaining transparency about our processes were key aspects of my role. This work not only broadened my industry outlook but also led to successful collaborations, bringing a diverse range of games to new audiences and further cementing iDreamSky's reputation as a reliable, respectful, and beneficial partner.
The positive outcomes of these collaborations were manifold: we were able to bring an exciting array of games to the Chinese audience, the developers found a new and profitable market, and iDreamSky further cemented its reputation as a reliable, respectful, and beneficial partner. The process was as rewarding as it was challenging, and it affirmed the value of nurturing strong, mutual beneficial relationships within the gaming industry.
